Our Work
Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene
RADCI ensures access to water and natural resources, as well as informed, safe, and clean use of those resources.
Given the acknowledged strong link between the management of this resource, RADCI considers access to water of suitable quality and quantity to be an essential aspect of the development of the communities in which it collaborates. We also promote water resource efficiency. In this regard, RADCI sees climate change as a factor that can limit both the availability and access to water and hence encourages adaptation measures that will aid in mitigating the risks of water scarcity and the resulting conflicts.
RADCI, in particular, promotes water access by constructing wells, installing water collecting devices, restoring or constructing infrastructure and water supply points (along transhumance lines, for example), constructing efficient irrigation systems, and collecting rainwater on the roofs of privately owned and public buildings. In terms of human consumption water access, we promote community awareness-raising activities about domestic water treatment systems and safe storage, and eliminating the risks associated with the transmission of water-borne diseases.
we also promote community awareness in solving potential conflicts over natural resources related to WASH . Furthermore, we advocate for integrated solid waste management, which encompasses all stages.
The provision of a comprehensive Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) package is critical to preserving the safety and wellbeing of displaced people, particularly women, and girls, by providing hygiene supplies, private and dignified toilets, and safe access to water sources.
WASH emergency relief and development services include :
- Providing safe water through water trucking.
- On-site water treatment and distribution.
- Household water treatment and storage.
- Borehole drilling/rehabilitation, shallow wells construction and upgrade.
- construction/rehabilitation of latrines.
- Training of water committee members for management and maintenance of the newly constructed and rehabilitated water systems.
- Solid waste management.
- Hygiene promotion services including distribution of hygiene kits to the worst disaster-affected marginalized and vulnerable host communities and internally displaced populations (IDPs) at the camps.
